Making new friends is an essential part of a child's social development. Not only does it help them learn important social skills, but it also allows them to have fun and make memories that they will cherish for years to come!
At Rascals we don’t just teach Dance, Drama & Singing but we actively encourage new friendships. Making new friends helps children learn how to communicate effectively, to listen, share, take turns, and compromise. These are all important skills that they will need later in life.
At Rascals we operate our 'Buddy' system when new children start at our classes. We understand how daunting it can be for a child to start a new class where they have no friends. Our students love helping new children settle in & feel a sense of importance being the role of 'Buddy', our new children feel instantly welcome & have a friendly face to come back to the following week!
We then enable these new friendships to develop & grow through class news, role play, improvisations & games. Children attending our classes feel like they are part of a group and have a place where they belong. This sense of belonging is important for their emotional wellbeing and can help them feel more confident and self-assured.
Having friends to explore new interests and hobbies with like a sports team or a performing arts class like Rascals, is always fun! Trying new things and having adventures together can create lifelong memories and help children develop their own unique personalities.
Many of our Rascals students are still good friends years after leaving Rascals, they are able to reminisce over the shared experiences & fun that they had whilst attending Rascals and the shows that they took part in.
